General Dental Health:

It is important to take care of your mouth and teeth starting in childhood. If you do not, you could have problems with your teeth and gums - like cavities or even tooth loss. Taking care of your teeth helps prevent plaque, which is a clear film that sticks to your teeth. This film acts as a magnet for bacteria and sugar. Bacteria go crazy over the sugar on your teeth, breaking it down into acids that eat away tooth enamel, causing holes called cavities. Plaque also causes gum disease that can make your gums red, swollen and sore. The most important thing you can do to maintain good oral health is to brush and floss, plus visit your dentist at least twice a year.

Porcelain Veneers:

Porcelain veneers are wafer thin shells of porcelain which are bonded onto the front side of teeth which require a minimal amount of tooth reduction. Porcelain veneers can be an excellent cosmetic solution for teeth that are stained, chipped or slightly misaligned. These veneers create a very life-like tooth appearance. Since porcelain is ceramic, and therefore glass-like, a veneer's porcelain surface will be extremely stain resistant. Porcelain veneers are the most esthetic means of creating and beautiful smile.

Tooth-Colored Restorations:

Tooth colored restorations or fillings are also referred to as composites, because they are composed of a complex molecular structure of a resin matrix and fillers. Composite, bonded, tooth colored restorations are now the state-of-the-art in dentistry. They are strong, wear resistant and because they are bonded, they actually reinforce the tooth. Due to the fact that most patients want to keep a natural looking beautiful white smile, we offer tooth colored restorations.

All Ceramic Crowns and Bridges:

You may need a crown to cover a tooth and restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown can make your tooth stronger and improve its appearance. It can be used to attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that is already broken. These all ceramic / pocelain crowns have no metal which makes it more estheticly pleasing while avoiding the gray dark shadow at the gum line.

Natural Looking Implant Restorations:

Due to tooth decay, advanced periodontal disease, genetics and trauma, over 50 million Americans are missing at least one of their natural teeth. For these individuals, chewing, talking and even smiling may be difficult or frustrating. In order to restore the missing tooth and optimize the mouths functionality again, a dental implant may be needed. Dental implants are permanent fixtures of titanium posts anchored to the jawbone and topped with individual replacement teeth (implant restoration) or a bridge that screws or cements into the posts. The success rate for implants are remarkable. Dental implants are a great alternative for replacement of missing teeth, fixed bridges, partials or holding dentures in place.

Removable Partials:

A partial denture is a removable appliance that fills in the space created by missing teeth and fills out your smile. It is held in place by your existing teeth. It is important that these teeth be healthy in order to support your partial. They may often need treatment prior to making the partial. Partials help the remaining teeth stay in position, improve the ability to speak and equally distribute chewing stress throughout the mouth.

Complete Dentures:

Due to tooth decay and loss that can happen with age, complete dentures may be necessary to maintain teeth functionality and your overall dental health. Complete dentures are essentially removable prosthetics for missing teeth that are custom made out of an acrylic resin. Complete dentures are used to repalce teeth where there are no teeth remaining. Implants can be placed to increase the retention of a complete denture. A complete denture helps you to properly chew food, a difficult task when you are missing teeth. In addition, a complete denture may improve speech and prevent a sagging face by providing support for your lips and cheeks.

Teeth Whitening:

According to the American Academy of Cosmeic Dentistry, whitening is the most requested cosmetic dental procedure in the United States. Whitening is the single most important, non-invasive cosmetic change that can greatly improve your looks. Dr. Polasky offers two solutions to help you brighten your smile. If you want immediate results, Dr. Polasky can whiten your teeth up to 8 shades in about one hour using the Sapphire Whitening System. If you are more comfortable with gradual whitening, a custom, take-home whitening system can be created for you.

Invisalign:

Invisalign is the best way to straighten your teeth without having to live with the "metal mouth" look of traditional braces. That's because Invisalign is a series of clear, removable, plastic aligners that are custom-made for your teeth.

And it's easy to get started. First, Dr. polasky will talk to you about your goals and examine your teeth to ensure they will benefit from the Invisalign system. She will then write a detailed treatment plan and order a full set of customized aligners for you.

You wear each pair of aligners for a two-week period, allowing your teeth to gradually evolve into a smile that shows off the real you. Treatment length varies, depending on your dental condition and the severity of your case. But often, a full program of treatment takes less than one year.

Invisalign is kind of like invisible braces. It's also virtually clear, so most people around you probably won't even notice you're wearing it. Even better, it's comfortable—without wires and brackets that could irritate your mouth.
